Week in Workouts 5

Hey there!  Today is an exciting day for me because it marks Day 1 of training for the NYC Marathon (!!!) on November 2 (aka 16 weeks away)!  For the past few weeks, I’ve been keeping my base miles at around 15/week and getting to crossfit about 3-4 times a week.  So for now, my training shouldn’t look too much different than what I’ve been doing lately.  But it’s still exciting to think that in 4 short months (pending any disasters) I’ll be lining up on Staten Island to run NYC.  So let’s check out what my last non-training week looked like…

Monday 7/7-CrossFit. I had to get my butt to a 6am class, as I was flying out of state for work Monday afternoon.  The workout was brutal, especially for 6 o’clock in the morning!  It was 4 rounds (each for time) of 500m row, 400m run.  I was pretty consistent with 4:31, 4:30, 4:31, 4:29 for the 4 rounds.  Tough, but at least it felt good to get my workout out of the way!

Tuesday 7/8- 4 easy miles.  Again, I woke up verryyyy early to get this run in.  As much as I wanted to explore the area, I didn’t have much time and had to stick to the hotel gym.  With only two treadmills and one elliptical, it was pretty tight feeling…especially once I got warmed up and started sweating.  4 miles at 9:50ish pace, done and out of the way for the day!

20140708-101732-37052062.jpg Wednesday 7/9- CrossFit.  Boyfriend came to my box and we did a killer 20min AMRAP (As Many Rounds/Reps As Possible) of 10 burpees, 20 pushups and 40 squats.  I completed 5 rounds plus got through 27 squats.  This was a sweaty one, folks!  Evidence: 516Thursday 7/10- CrossFit.  Coach Tyler made us basically do a workout as a warm-up (10 wall balls, 3 burpees, 9 wall balls, 3 burpees, 8 wall balls, 3 burpees, etc…down to 1 and 3).  Then we did a partner WOD for time.  I had to get a different buddy than Liz because her friend Kailey (Hi, Kailey!) came in for a drop-in so they partnered up. The workout was 2000m row (500 m increments each) then…3 Rounds of 40 KB swings, 40 burpees, 40 V-ups (10 rep increments each partner) then…1 mile run (400m increments each) My partner and I finished in 35:29

Friday 7/11- Rest

Saturday 7/12- 8 mile long run (10:28 avg pace), with some awesome inspiration along the way:

Sunday 7/13- Rest

And now onto MARATHON TRAINING!  Let’s do this!

    I’m so excited for you buddy!!!!! I can’t wait to live vicariously through marathon training with you, running to all the fun places together again and of course CHEERING MY FACE OFF FOR YOU in 16 weeks!!! This is going to be an amazing 16 weeks. Make sure you enjoy every second of it. Love you buddy! Here’s to an incredible first marathon!!!!!!!
