#KindAwesome (& a Giveaway!)

Disclaimer:  KIND snacks provided me with product to review and will provide product to one lucky giveaway winner.  I was not compensated in any way for this post and as always, all opinions are my own.

Hi there!  I’m feeling pretty kind today, you guys.

Get it? KIND.  I’m pretty excited to share this post because it’s all about a product and company that I truly love and stand behind.  KIND is a brand that takes pride in making snacks from real ingredients that you can see and pronounce.  There’s a reason they have the hastag #KINDAwesome!  I have been eating KIND products myself for years and highly recommend them to my clients, friends, family, coworkers, etc. We all see bloggers out there who review products simply because they get free stuff (and/or money) to do it.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m ALL about free stuff.  I’ve received plenty of free goodies as an RD and blogger and I admit I’ve even written to companies and asked for free stuff.  But just because you get something for free, doesn’t mean it’s any good.  If you know me, then you know I’m completely honest in my reviews, even if it’s not good.  And I really try not to review things that I wouldn’t use myself or recommend to others.  So when an opportunity to work with KIND came up, I jumped at the chance.  Why not enjoy some new products from a company I’m already down with?

IMG_7008[1]My friends at KIND sent me a big ole box of goodies, including some of my old faves as well as their new Healthy Grains bars/granola and their newest savory bars, STRONG & Kind.  IMG_7006[1] I have to admit, I was a little hesitant about the savory bars at first.  The flavors include Roasted Jalapeno, Thai Sweet Chili, Hickory Smoked, Honey Smoked BBQ and Honey Mustard.  Savory bars are actually pretty trendy right now and I hadn’t yet found one I enjoyed.  But holy moly–the Roasted Jalapeno bar changed my mind!  It has hints of garlic and onion with a spicy kick from the jalapeno and packs in 10 grams of (plant-based) protein per bar!  Their secret is pea protein, which is non-GMO, contains essential amino acids and has a low allergen profile compared to egg and soy proteins. But I’m sure what you’re most worried about is the taste, which like I said is awesome.  I also really enjoyed the Honey Mustard bar.  I’m not a fan of BBQ or Hickory flavors, so I let boyfriend test the other STRONG & Kind bars and apparently they’re just as good!  Check ’em out!IMG_7084[1]

In addition to my first love (Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt), my new favorite KIND bar flavors are Dark Chocolate Mocha Almond and Dark Chocolate Chili Almond.  Notice a trend there?  To be fair, I also like the Madagascar Vanilla Almond (pictured above)! You can really see (and taste) the vanilla in this one.  So good!  One “nuts & spices” bar is typically 200 calories and 6-7 grams of protein, making it a great choice for a snack or fuel before/after workouts.

The Healthy Grains bars and granola were also a big hit with both me and the boyfriend.  The bars do have a bit too much sugar for my liking (9g per bar).  Some is natural (from fruit) but some is added, so just pay attention to that when including these as part of your daily intake. I’d suggest treating these bars as more of a “treat” than a snack.  I was pleasantly surprised with the Healthy Grains Clusters (aka granola), particularly the Banana Nut Clusters and the Raspberry Clusters with Chia.  Granola is typically pretty high in added sugar, so it’s important to pay attention to how often you’re eating it and in what portions.  The Banana Nut and Raspberry versions of KIND granola only have 3g of sugar per 1/3 cup serving, which isn’t too bad!

#proof. So much KIND in my desk!

I really enjoyed trying all of the new products, and am excited to add the savory STRONG & Kind bars into my snack routine.  I definitely make sure to keep KIND bars on hand wherever I am-in my house (which means I have to share them with boyfriend…ugh), in my desk at work (see above) and in my purse for on-the-go!

Finally, let’s get to the really good stuff…I’m feeling so KIND today and I want to share some of that KINDness with YOU!  Enter using the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win a week’s worth of KIND bars for yourself! I love the peanut butter and jelly bars as well as coconut almond and dark chocolate sea salt. I’ve been a huge fan since about 5 years ago when they were handing out free bars outside of my office. Since I’m a sucker for free stuff too, I took a handful and the rest is history.
